Family Center and Family Center O'Donovan
Family Center physicians and nurse practitioners evaluate and treat psychiatric disorders in children, adolescents and adults. Medication management is provided and recommendations for other treatments are made for a variety of conditions, including:

  • Mood Disorders (Depressions and Bipolar Disorders)
  • Anxiety (including Panic, Social Anxiety and Generalized Anxiety)
  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
  • Psychotic Disorders (such as Schizophrenia and Schizoaffective Disorder)
  • Stress (due to trauma and grief, for example)
  • Dementias (such as Alzheimer’s and Vascular Dementia), with and without behavioral issues
  • School issues and ADHD

Specialized treatments – Medication-assisted Treatment (MAT) for opioid addiction and Spravato (esketamine nasal spray) for Treatment-resistant Depression (TRD) in adults and/or for Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) with acute suicidal ideation or behavior – are available at the O’Donovan location.

The Psychiatry Center

The Psychiatry Center is a training clinic in which advanced level resident doctors of the LSU Health Baton Rouge-Our Lady of the Lake psychiatry program provide services for children, adolescents and adults. These services include psychiatric evaluation, medication management and individual and group psychotherapy. Additionally, graduate students from the LSU Department of Psychology provide psychological testing and evidence-based psychotherapy to children, adolescents and adults. All visits in the Psychiatry Center are supervised by LSU faculty.
