Volunteer

Everyone has his or her own special talents, something they are good at and enjoy doing. Talents can be shared to help others. Imagine what can be accomplished when many people get together and combine their skills, abilities and efforts. This happens at Our Lady of the Lake every day.

Our Volunteer Services is an essential part of the continued success of the hospital. Our volunteers are a valuable resource to our team and our patients. The services provided by volunteers are essential in meeting our goal of offering high-quality patient care and service. There are many opportunities for people willing to share their time and capabilities.

What to Expect as a Volunteer

When applying for a volunteer position, you will meet with our volunteer coordinator to discuss your skills and interests, and they will help coordinate an assignment that fits your needs, as well as the needs of the hospital.

Volunteers are an extension of our team. Once you are assigned a position, you will attend orientation, go through training and receive an ID badge.

Volunteers show a sincere commitment to their work. Collectively, our volunteers give an average of 45,200 hours of service each year. We value your time and contributions. Each year, volunteers are honored at an annual luncheon. This gives us an opportunity to celebrate and recognize all of our volunteers. Volunteers receive a recognition pin for every 500 hours contributed to our hospital.

Additionally, volunteers receive a discount on meals from the hospital cafeteria.

A Commitment to Service
Our service standards reflect the level of service we provide to every customer. The service standards apply to every hospital team member, including contract and temporary team members and volunteers. These standards apply for all customers, whether they are patients and their families, physicians, other employees or volunteers. We use them daily in every interaction with every customer. Using the service standards consistently is how we provide the outstanding service our customers expect and deserve.
