Detection
Our Lady of the Lake offers in-house access to advanced imaging technology to catch heart disease in its earliest and most treatable stages. We have been accredited by the American College of Radiology in Cardiac MRI, making us the only hospital in Baton Rouge to hold this distinction in imaging excellence. Cardiac MRI is an innovative, radiation-free method of viewing structures of the heart to diagnose coronary heart disease, heart failure and other conditions. Our Emergency Room is also equipped with a 640-slice CT to scan the heart with unprecedented speed.
Treatment
If you’re diagnosed with a heart condition, rest assured you’re in highly skilled and caring hands. Your Heart & Vascular Institute team will work closely with you to create a personal treatment plan that may include medication and other nonsurgical solutions. For more complex conditions, we also perform the most heart surgeries in Louisiana. Our world-class cardiothoracic surgeons are trained in the most minimally invasive techniques available. These include robotic-assisted heart bypass surgery, which results in significantly less pain and faster recovery, as well as innovative treatments like Convergent, which helps restore normal heart rhythm in patients with long-term atrial fibrillation. If needed, our hybrid operating room allows patients to undergo more than one heart procedure in the same surgical setting. This means fewer return trips to the hospital and less time away from work and family.
