Heart & Vascular Conditions We Treat

Whether you’re dealing with a heart-related concern or just want to stay on top of your health, the Heart & Vascular Institute at Our Lady of the Lake can help.

Our board-certified cardiovascular specialists provide comprehensive care for all types of cardiovascular conditions—whether it’s helping prevent heart disease, treating sudden chest pain, replacing a damaged value or getting an irregular heartbeat back in rhythm. And they’re here to support you at every step, from education through rehabilitation and ongoing lifestyle support.

Atrial Fibrillation (AFib)

If your heart is out of rhythm, you’re not out of options. Our electrophysiologists (EPs) can quickly diagnose the problem and provide a full range of treatments, including medications and device therapy to help manage symptoms. We also offer new minimally invasive procedures like Convergent, which can help eliminate the abnormal rhythm by targeting it at the source.

Heart Attack

If you or a loved one is experiencing the signs of a heart attack, our emergency heart care team won’t miss a beat. Our door-to-balloon times are also some of the fastest in the country, greatly improving outcomes.

Heart Valve Disease

If you’re living with severe aortic stenosis, we offer both aortic valve replacement (AVR), as well as a revolutionary new procedure, transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). An option for people considered too high risk for open-heart surgery, TAVR uses a catheter placed in a small incision to replace the heart valve, helping patients live a longer, more active life.

Vascular Disease

Our vascular surgeons use a wide variety of techniques to treat carotid artery disease and peripheral artery disease, including medication to help prevent clots and lower hypertension and cholesterol. To complement bypass surgery, they also specialize in endoscopic vein harvesting, the borrowing of veins from non-critical areas of the body to safely get around blockages.
